Corten steel combines high mechanical strength with excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion. Its ability to develop a natural protective patina reduces maintenance needs and makes it an ideal solution for architectural, industrial and civil engineering applications. Technical Properties of Corten Steel
Corten steel is a low-alloy structural steel that incorporates elements such as copper, chromium, nickel and phosphorus to improve its behaviour against atmospheric corrosion.
Atmospheric Corrosion Resistance
Its main feature is the formation of a protective oxide patina that reduces the corrosion rate compared to conventional carbon steel. This surface layer regenerates naturally when the material is exposed to alternating cycles of moisture and drying.
The S355J0WP and S355J2W corten steel grades stand out for combining high mechanical strength with excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion.

Weldability
Corten steel offers good weldability using suitable procedures and consumables compatible with the material. This allows its use in metal structures, façades and civil engineering works.
