Hot Rolled Square Bars in S275JR and S355J2+N

Commercial overview. SUALSA supplies hot rolled solid steel square bars for steel construction, industrial manufacturing, metalworking, machinery and machining. The reference technical data sheet lists nominal side dimensions from 3 mm to 800 mm, together with cross-sectional area and theoretical weight per meter.

Product Description

A solid square bar, also known as a square steel bar or hot rolled square bar, is a steel product with a fully solid square cross-section. Unlike a square hollow section (SHS), it has no internal cavity. Its geometry facilitates cutting, welding, machining and the manufacture of parts, supports, frames and auxiliary components.

Indicative Weight Calculation

For a solid square steel bar, the theoretical weight per meter can be estimated using the following formula:

Weight (kg/m) = side² (mm) × 0.00785

Example for 20 × 20 mm: 20 × 20 × 0.00785 = 3.14 kg/m. The result matches the value in the technical sheet. The formula uses a reference density of 7,850 kg/m³ and provides a theoretical weight.

Steel Grades Included in the Sheet

S275JR

Structural steel grade specified in the technical sheet. Applicable properties must be verified against the relevant product standard and the documentation for the supplied material.

S355J2+N

Structural steel grade specified in the technical sheet, with J2 impact designation and +N delivery condition. Conformity must be verified through the manufacturer documentation and the corresponding inspection certificate.

Documentation and Certificates

The technical data sheet does not specify a particular inspection certificate type. When an order requires an inspection certificate, traceability or other documentation, it must be requested expressly and its availability confirmed before supply.

Frequently Asked Questions
